Win-Win Formula for all Counties
Senate finally unlocks the revenue allocation impasse that threatened to close down counties due to lack of funds. The third basis for revenue sharing had proposed to have a number of Counties especially those in marginalized areas lose billions of money had it been passed. Several Senators vowed to ensure that their will be no losers and the wrangles went as they failed to pass the motion in ten attempts.
Senate leadership met with President Uhuru and Hon. Raila Odinga at statehouse in an attempt to resolve the impasse as he promised them Sh. 53Bn in the next financial year. The Senate Committee formed to build consensus then proposed a new formula that will ensure no single County loses funds and all of them will only gain. The Senate then went on to cast their vote approving the new formula that guarantees that no single County shall receive in any financial year an amount of shareable revenue that is less than the amount of shareable revenue received by the County in the financial year 2019/2020.
