Court bars TSC from issuing transfer letters to teachers in N. Kenya

The court has temporarily barred the teachers service Commission from transferring teachers from Northern Kenya. This follows a case filed by a young lawyer Mr. Hussein Kusow who filed a case at the Milimani Law Court protesting the unwarranted transfer of teachers from Northern Kenya. The young lawyer in his affidavit termed the mass transfer of teachers as a violation of the right to education and the best interest of the child.

Mr. Hussein questioned the transfer and requested the court to halt the process until his case is heard and finalised, the court has since accepted his plea and now TSC has 7 days to respond to the case. The Teachers Service Commission has for a long time been at fault with Northern Kenya for dishing out transfer letters to non-local teachers in case of an attack by Al-Shabaab. The case will be heard again on 12th March, 2020.
