Senate has this evening unanimously voted to impeach Kiambu Governor Mr. Ferdinand Waititu following a successful petition by Kiambu MCAs. The MCAs had earlier last year voted to impeach the Governor before submitting their petition with evidence. The speaker of the Senate called for a special sitting which has for the last two days been holding a trial to interrogate the matter.
Waititu was being charged over gross violation of the constitution and Public Finance Management Act, crimes under the National Law and Abuse of Office. The Senators voted unanimously on the three charges and now Waititu ceases to be the Governor of Kiambu.
