Fear as swarms of locusts spotted in Isiolo
Isiolo residents are in great fear as several swamps of locusts have been spotted in different parts. The swarms of locusts have been spotted in Garbatulla Sub-County and Merti and are believed to have covered about 3000 square kilometers. Isiolo County Commissioner Narman Shambi has confirmed the invasion and promised that the Government will begin spraying the affected areas from today. Experts had warned earlier that if the locusts are not contained earlier they will spread widely putting more land at risk. The Government has so far not been serious with efforts to contain the locusts from the time they were first spotted in Wajir County. Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, and Mandera are yet to contain the swarms as they are moving really fast and might become disastrous for the Country.
