7 MORE DISAPPEARED AS PROPERTIES DESTROYED BY KENYA POLICE

Dadaab constituency Member of Parliament Mohamed Dahiye is appealing to the government after claims that police officers in Xeebta Cad of Dadaab Constituency led by an officer named Jamal have disappeared 7 people and destroyed properties including a truck ferrying goods. The MP said that the officers from the national police service took a probox and that the whereabouts of the 7 people is not known. ”We are appealing to the Interior Cabinet Secretary, the IG and IPOA to act against those rogue officers who are disappearing people and destroying properties” said Dr Dahiye. He said the adverse actions of the security forces in his cnstituency and across the region is continuing to alienate citizens.
The MP said there are more 20 people who have been disappeared by security forces adding that residents will be forced to ”defend themselves if nothing is done about this gross violation of their rights”. He said national government has promised to investigate and arrest those behind the harassment and disappearance of citizens but nothing has been done.
Asked about the governors who were barred from office on corruption charges, the MP said he supports the budge on corrupt governors. ” Any governor arrested on corruption charges or any other serious crime must step aside” said the MP. Dr Dahiye, a two term MP, is thought to harbour ambitions of running for Garissa County’s gubernatorial seat. The MP said that Nairobi governor Mike Sonko must be replaced immediately citing his ”thuggish manners”. ”If you have children what will you tell them to learn from Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko as a role model?” asked the MP amid laughters. Sonko who is known for his lavish and sometimes unethical dressing code has been barred from office last week and charged with theft of Ksh 357 Million.
