Garissa County Governor Ali Korane has called for an immediate stop to the ongoing land survey by LAPSSET in the County. The Governor has faulted the process for lack of consultation with the county administration who are the custodian of the land. “We were not consulted and we are wondering by whose authority are they surveying our land knowing very well that land in Garissa and Northern Kenya is still communal, ” said the Governor. Korane claims that there is a hidden motive to the ongoing survey which few powerful people intend to get compensation at the expense of the community. Governor Korane said that no surveying will be conducted without adequate consultation between the LAPSSET officials and the community at large.
