Moody, Irritable and angry, Governor Kuti Is Now a Political Loner

By Mohamed Haji and Ali Edin,
Jamhuri day celebrations in Isiolo turned chaotic as goons attempted to block the ‘pentagon’ team from addressing the public. This team comprises of the 5 political representatives from Isiolo county (4 elected and 1 nominated legislatures) hence the term pentagon given by the people of Isiolo.
The environment was tense from yesterday as information spread that hungry jobless youth have been given handouts of shs.500 to boo the leaders from the national government and disrupt their speeches. This follows months of heated disagreement between the national assembly members and the County Governor over the legal notice no. 150. This came to pass when booing began as Hon. Rehema Jaldesa, the County Women Rep took to the podium. However, this didn’t deter the leaders as they spoke their mind accusing the County leadership of playing dirty politics with public funds. It was not surprising but sad that the County chief could afford to give the paltry shs 500 to the jobless youth but not find them gainful employment or help them start income generating activities.
According to information we received, individuals were paid Kshs. 500 each to boo the pentagon team members the moment they took to the podium. One person who was paid last night by a well-known close confidant of the Governor informed us that they met at an undisclosed hotel where they were paid and given clear instructions on what to do. However, the leaders stood their ground and delivered their speeches amid the chaos that marked the event. The boos gave the leaders more energy to voice their disgust at the County which has refused to back down from its support for the planned adjudication exercise.
When the Governor took to the podium, he appeared angry and read out what he said were his two years’ achievement. The one thing that keeps manifesting itself these days is that Governor Kuti is irritated and throws his irrational tantrums every time he speaks. He appears isolated as all elected Isiolo leaders desert him unable to defend his indefensible political positions. He always takes political positions that is detrimental to Isiolo and its great people. A county whose chief defender he should otherwise have been. He increasingly looks like the deer in the headlight. Dr. Kuti has lost touch with reality and is now slowly resolving to old political tricks to deal with criticism. He is unable to explain his development record for the past two years and indulges in lies and diversionary tactics in the absence of development record to defend or showcase.
The politics of hooliganism is long gone, and the Governor knows very well that his game is over. Isiolo has come of age and Texans will not succumb to the old tricks of political gamesmanship. Dr Kuti represents the past and knows Isiolo people will not accept to be divided while he devours their wealth.
