Kenya Muslim Medical Professionals give their support for the HPV Vaccine
Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals has issued a statement in support of the newly launched Human Papilloma Virus vaccine. The association headed by Dr. Ramadhan Marjan has called on the Muslim community not to be scared as the vaccine is safe for use and will greatly help in protecting them against cervical cancer. Muslim clerics in Garissa earlier on had raised issues with the vaccine insisting that it has serious side effects.
The Government launched the vaccine last week targeting girls from the age of 13. The catholic church has also questioned the speed being used by the government in introducing the vaccine despite fears of serious side effects.
