SUPKEM Responds to NFD DISPATCH
In a letter signed off by SUPKEM deputy chair Al-hajj Hassan Ole Naado the Muslim body responded to yesterday’s NFD Dispatch’s (supkem-on-the-spot-as-a-fraudster-disappears-with-kshs-12-million) piece on a possible weak system that has enabled dishonest Hajj Agents like Mr Abdi, who was yesterday accused of defrauding Pilgrims through his agency ITHAF HAJJ&UMRAH AGENCY. While SUPKEM acknowledged that it registers and accredits agents, agents solicit for their own clients and submit list of names for visa facilitation. ”If the agent does not submit names, payments and passports of their clients, then SUPKEM assumes that the agent does not have clients for Hajj” said part of the letter. While the body strongly condemned the action of the Hajj Agent expressing shock and disappointment, they did not specify any immediate remedial actions they will take to avoid recurrence of such sad actions. However SUPKEM said it will not tolerate such actions and will continue to strengthen its systems. ”The Council strongly condemns this kind of conduct from entities such as Mr Abdi and his agency, and will not tolerate the same moving forward. The Supreme Council, will therefore, continue to strengthen its system and work with other relevant authorities to ensure that nobody suffers from the kind of dishonesty exhibited by Mr Abdi and his agency.” said the Council.
