Polio Vaccine and cancer:

Polio Vaccine and cancer:

What is the association? Could there be a direct correlation? Was caution exercised in its administration? When fear and ignorance mix, the result is almost always toxic and dangerous. Was caution exercised in the administration of the Polio Vaccine? Has budgetary allocation and kowtowing to international organizations’ demands superseded the health of our people? For many years and particularly in the last one year, the fear of Polio and its catastrophic effects rented the airwaves. In Northern Kenya, the County governments had unalloyed support for the administration of the Polio Vaccine and made a clarion call for help against Polio. MCAs from Wajir and Garissa traveled across the border to Kismayu in Somalia to talk or learn about Polio. The Polio vaccine was sold as the panacea to all viral problems and made mandatory for all children. The Ministers of Health from IGAD converged in Garissa not to talk about Malaria, Pnemonia, Cancer, diarrhea or tuberculosis but to talk about Polio. It was like Polio vaccine was the only problem and indeed the most pressing problem NEP faced. Despite the controversy surrounding the vaccine and concerns raised by the Catholic church against it, our NEP leaders sounded they were saving us from a scourge that was snatching children from the laps of mothers. Yes, Polio is a scourge but is it the most pressing problem facing us? What is the statistics of people affected by polio in northern Kenya compared to other diseases? Was the Polio vaccine, in any case, a safe vaccine? Could it have a role in the explosion of cancers in the region? To answer this question we look at the science of this vaccine; its discovery and possible impact on users.
The Discovery of Simian Virus 40 (SV40)
”Between 1959 and 1960, Bernice Eddy, Ph.D., of the US National Institute of Health (NIH) examined minced rhesus monkey kidney cells under a microscope. These were the cells of the same species of monkeys used to create and produce the oral polio vaccine. Dr. Eddy discovered that the cells would die without any apparent cause. She then took suspensions of the cellular material from these kidney cell cultures and injected them into hamsters. Cancers grew in the hamsters.
Shortly thereafter, scientists at the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. discovered what would later be determined to be the same virus identified by Eddy. This virus was named Simian Virus 40 or SV40 because it was the 40th simian virus found in monkey kidney cells. In 1960, Doctors Benjamin Sweet and Maurice Hilleman, the Merck scientists who named the virus SV40, published their findings:
Viruses are commonly carried by monkeys and may appear as contaminants in cell cultures of their tissues, especially the kidney . . . . The discovery of this new virus, the vacuolating agent, represents the detection for the first time of a hitherto “non-detectable” simian virus of monkey renal cultures and raises the important question of the existence of other such viruses . . . . As shown in this report, all 3 types of Sabin’s live poliovirus vaccine, now fed to millions of persons of all ages, were contaminated with vacuolating virus.

The vacuolating virus was another name for SV40.

In 1962, Dr. Bernice Eddy published her findings in the journal produced by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. She wrote:
There is now an impressive list of oncogenic (cancer causing) viruses—the rabbit papilloma, polyoma, Rous sarcoma, the leukemia viruses . . . . It has been known for a number of years that monkeys harbor latent viruses . . . . The (SV40) virus was injected at once into 13 newborn hamsters and 10 newborn mice. Subcutaneous neoplasms indistinguishable from those induced by the rhesus monkey kidney extracts developed in 11 of the 13 hamsters between 156 and 380 days . . . .
Subsequent studies performed in the early 1960s demonstrated that SV40 caused brain tumors in animals and that SV40 could transform or turn cancerous normal human tissue in vitro. A disturbing experiment performed during this era also suggested that SV40 could cause human cancers in man in vivo. In 1964, Fred Jensen and his colleagues took tissue from patients who were terminally ill with cancer. They exposed the tissue to SV40 and then after it was transformed, they implanted the tissue back into the patient. These implants grew into tumors in their human hosts. This suggested the possibility that SV40 could cause cancers in man.
More than 98 million Americans received one or more doses of polio vaccine from 1955 to 1963 when a proportion of vaccine was contaminated with SV40; it has been estimated that 10—30 million Americans could have received an SV40 contaminated dose of vaccine.
Possibly more shocking than the fact that it took 50 years for the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) to admit to this is that it took 3 years once SV40 was discovered in 1960 to finally recall the tainted stock and reformulate the vaccine. Over 100 million Americans were vaccinated with the contaminated polio vaccine before action was taken. 30 million seems like a very lowball number of the true extent of the problem! With baby boomers suffering from cancer, by some estimates, at the mind boggling rate of 1 in every 3 individuals (up from 1 in 8,000 only a few decades prior and the highest rate of any age group), it would seem that something is terribly amiss, don’t you think?
The CDC insists that current polio vaccines no longer contain SV40. Should this give us some level of comfort? Not for me it doesn’t! Just because SV40 is not in the polio vaccine stock today doesn’t mean that there aren’t other viruses lurking that science doesn’t even know about yet. Remember that SV40 was in the polio vaccine for several years before it was even discovered!
Even if there were other viruses in the polio or any other vaccine, would the CDC admit it? Probably not – at least for 50 years or so after the affected population was already sick, incapacitated or dead”
Now that we know some of the facts, are our leaders culpable for the cancer epidemic? I think not. While their greed has nagged them to take advantage of the mainstream media hyperbole about Polio Vaccine and raise budgets that were not in the end entirely spent on this campaign but diverted, I am of the believe that they were ignorant of the association between cancer and the vaccine. However, this ignorance does not entirely exonerate them from culpability and we call upon them to exercise caution now and in the future. Engage experts and ignore financial incentives to administer harmful vaccines and the possible coercion by international organizations and individuals who may have a vile interest in population control. If this is not done and seen to be done, we may sue County governments for crimes against their populations and on behalf of all who are already afflicted by cancer and those who may be in the future.
