Marsabit County Facing Severe Starvation
Several families in Marsabit County are currently facing starvation as severe drought continues to ravage through the County. The Governor led several leaders in a presser, insisting the situation is dire and needs immediate intervention. “Pasture has been depleted and 90% of water sources have dired up and now several herders have migrated with their animals to neighbouring Samburu and Isiolo Counties,” said the Governor.
The Governor has called for support from the national government to help support him contain the situation. The County Government has supplied 10,000 bags of maize, 2,000 bags of beans, and 2,000 cartons of cooking oil at a cost of Kshs. 233M. The Governor has insisted that more needs to be done to reach out to more families.
