Waititu Humbled As Deputy Governor Takes Over
The court has freed Waititu on a cash bail of Kshs. 15M and barred him from accessing his County office until the matter is heard and determined. Waititu is facing grafting charges totalling Kshs. 588M in illegal tenders and contracts awarded to close friends and members of his family. The other staff who work in the County have also been blocked by the corruption court from accessing their work place.
In his ruling, Nairobi Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi has concurred with Justice Mumbi Ngugi, who ruled that county bosses charged with economic crimes step aside until their cases are heard and determined.
It now appears all set for his deputy James Nyoro to take over the running of the County as the Governor fights to clear himself in court. The Governor has had a fallout with his deputy and now the economist Dr. James Nyoro will now run the County until such a time when the Governor will be cleared.
