SUPKEM Condemns Education Secretary’s Move
Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) has condemned the move by Education CS Prof Magoha of abolishing the Quarter system of education where KCPE graduates from marginalized areas were admitted to national schools. Supkem called for the immediate retraction of the Education Secretary’s announcement which they said is regressive. Supkem which represents Muslims in Kenya in various capacity and foras said the move is unconstitutional and the CS has no powers to announce such changes.
Supkem said the announcement is similar to the Sessional Paper 10 of 1965 which was in large part responsible for the current state of affairs in marginalized counties and called on the president to intervene in the spirit of equality and fairness.
