Singub to be buried today as 3 Countries Fight Over his Burial Place

The legendary poet and freedom fighter Abwaan Mohamud Abdullahi Isse popularly known as Singub who passed on in Addis Ababa will be buried today in Jigjiga, the capital city of Western Somalia known as Ogadenia the government annouced. The poet play writer who died in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa on his way to Mogadishu while returning from Umrah was to be given a state burial in Mogadishu but his family has requested for him to be buried in Ogadenia’s capital city of Jigjiga.

The burial which is planned to take place today is expected to be attended by dignitaries from across the globe. Delegates from Djibouti, Somalia and Ethiopia are expected to fly in today and tomorrow. Kenya’s Foreign Minister Dr Monica Juma, Regional governors from all over Somalia, delegations of artists and intellectuals from Europe and America will be attending his burial.

Following his sad and sudden death, the 3 countries of Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia asked his family to bury him in their respective countries. Former Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud asked for state funeral for the Poet while Ethiopia and Djibouti’s president Ismail Omar Gelle asked to fly the legendary poet to his country for a state burial. In the end the family of the late Mohamud Abdullahi Isse asked to be rested at the capital city of Ogadenia. Abwaan Singub was born in the outskirts of Dhagax Buur.

The poet who was a man of many talent including been a xaafidh( one who memorized the Holy Quran) will be buried next to another gifted poet Abdullahi Maalim Ahmed famously known as Dhoodan and legendary Ahmed Gurey among other greats.
