A white South African national today walked into a mosque in Taita Taveta County armed with a pistol and threatened the imam and other worshipers who were praying. He dismantled public speaker equipment and threatened to shoot the worshipers. The man who is alleged to be an employee of the Deputy President Dr William Ruto and said to be carrying a gun without a license has been apprehended by the police.
Residents of Taita Taveta complained against the man they accussed of patronising them and claimed that he fires employees arbitrarily. ” he has injured people, fires employees who get injured in the work place he manages and has even hit someone and nothing has been done about it by the government” said the leaders of the county who were speaking to the press. They claimed that the man is ” protected by the government” while he terrorises residents. An mca who spoke to the press said Mr Dumper has been causing mischief in the county and that he is pleased today the police have arrested him. The county’s chairman of Council of Imams Sheikh Abdalla Mjeuri said he concurs with the mca and that its unprecedented for someone to enter a mosque with his shoes and with a gun during prayers and disrupt worship. It is unclear in what capacity he works for the Deputy President and what company Mr Dumper runs in the county.
