Fresh Fights Reported in Marsabit County
One person has been killed in fresh fights in Marsabit County as residents call for more security officers to be deployed to help beef up security in the volatile areas. A week ago 10 lives were lost in Forole (North Horr) in one of the deadliest attacks in recent months. The residents have raised fears insisting these attacks are carried out by foreigners from Ethiopia. The County Commissioner Mr. Gilbert Kitiyo has assured the residents that security has been beefed after and more security officers deployed in the volatile areas of the County.
Speaking to journalists the Gabbra leaders and professionals insisted that the attacks are being carried out by individuals who are well known and protected by powerful leaders in the County. The Gabbra and Borana disputes has escalated in recent months with attacks and revenge attacks rocking the area. Religious leaders and community elders have been urged to bring together the warring communities in a bid to end the frequent killings and restore long lasting peace in the areas.
