Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has slammed President Uhuru Kenyatta referring Kenya to an ‘Animal Farm’ alluding to George Orwell’ s famous The Animal Farm in which some animals are more equal than others. In a hard hitting tweet, the City Lawyer popularly known as ‘The Grand Mullah’ took issue with the different ways in which the President treated two representatives for the JSC slot.
Ahmednasir observed that it took 9 months and a court order for president Uhuru to gazette the election of Justice Mohamed Warsame to the JSC by court of Appeal judges while it took just a day after election to Gazette LSK male representative to the same JSC, Macharia Njeru.
The vocal lawyer took issue with the fact that Macharia, who comes from Uhuru’s central Kenya backyard and the President’s Kikuyu tribe was gazetted effortlessly while the former from Northern Kenya had to wait 9 months and a court order to enjoy the same.
Ahmednasir also noted that High Court Judge Majanja who was elected to the same body unopposed on February to represent judges and magistrates is still awaiting the president’s gazzettment. In a series of tweets, the lawyer brings to the fore the open selective application of the law by the executive.
