Mandera Governor Captain Ali Ibrahim Roba has accussed Mandera County’s KPR personnel of dereliction of duty and aiding and abetting the mistreatment of the residents they were employed to protect. Angry Roba said the KPR have abandoned the sole purpose of their recruitment and have joined ranks with other security arms. ” instead of safe guarding the security of Mandera residents, the KPR are disrupting the businesses of small entrepreneurs and have turned into informers” Governor Roba said.

The Governor who was speaking to the press said residents ought to be more active against what ails their social and economic development and speak up against unfairness. He accused residents of ” temedity” and asked them to “wake up” against what he claimed were injustices by the KPR.

The governor gave an order to the County to stop paying the KPRs with “immediate effect”. ” Mandera County is the only County that pays KPRs salaries and this was to boost their morale and enhance the security of our people, KPR salary is the responsibility of the national government” said Roba.
