“We will not register our people for Huduma Namba” Says Majority Leader
Garissa Township Member of Parliament who is the national assembly Majority Leader said until the Interior Minister Dr Fred Matiangi addresses the plight of those Kenyans in refugee camps we will not register for Huduma namba. The MP said that he agreed with the CS to announce the fate of those whose finger prints are with UNHCR. There are hundreds of thousands of Kenyans who claimed asylum at the Dadaab refugee camps during the decades long drought and whose finger prints were captured by the refugee agency. The government of Kenya has since threatened to close down the refugee camps and repatriate the people to Somalia, Sudan and other countries.
The controversial Huduma Namba whose registration is ongoing in the country is at a very slow pace in northern Kenya. Leaders who have raised concerns against the Namba claim that the number will disenfranchise rural Kenyans.
