A Section Of Wajir West Voters Blame Majority Leader For Voter Irregularity.
A section of wajir West voters have today taken to the streets protesting aainst what they claim was voter irregularity engineered by Majority Leader Hon. Aden Barre Duale. The protesters who carried placards written ”Duale is not a national leader”, ”Duale is a Biased Leader” among others took to the streets accusing the majority leader and threatening to encourage Ajuran voters of Garissa County to vote against him in the next elections. They asked the President to prevail upon the Garissa Township MP from ”harming them as the Ajuran Community”. They accused Hon. Duale of encouraging the stuffing of ballot boxes and inciting the two communities of Ajuran and Degodia. ”Yesterday in the morning Duale sent money and ballot boxes stuffed with 5000 votes through Wajir South and that is what was announced” said an oldman who spoke to the media. He continued that ”the two communities of Ajuran and Degodia have co-existed peacefully for many years and had a healthy political competition for decades before Duale decided to interfere in our internal affairs to incite the two communities against each other”
A woman who spoke took an issue with Hon. Duale’s tweet congratulating Hon. Ahmed Qolosh at around 8pm. ” You sent a tweet at 1pm congratulating Qolosh while voting was ongoing, how did you know he will win” she asked. ”You were counting your stuffed ballot boxes that you knew Qolosh will win not by the votes of Wajir West, you hail from Garissa and have no issues with you or Ogaden” the mother continued. She said Ajurans live everywhere in the country like the sun and will ” pay you in kind when the time comes” said the woman.
Hon Aden Duale who was seen as a representative leader of the Somalis in the country by virtue of his Majority Leader post is likely to suffer a setback in his drive to sell himself as such as the Ajuran community claims that they do not recognise him as their leader henceforth.
