Handshake Politics unfolds as Wajir Women Rep Leaves Ruto for Raila

Few months ago the Wajir Women Rep Hon Fatuma Gedi would probably have said like her brother Majority Leader Aden Duale said before her that she will throw herself from KICC’s helipad for Ruto and Jubilee.

Today in a surprise move that may signify a defection by Fatuma Gedi from the party of her erstwhile closest political bossom friend William Ruto ,she has persuaded ODM bigwigs including PM Raila Odinga and his deputy the self-styled Sultan of the Coast Governor Ali Hassan Joho popularly known to the Somalis as Jexow and ODM wonder boy Minority Whip Junet Mohamed to a fund drive for Alfatah Islamic Institute. Tagged alongside is the controversial member of parliament for Gatundu South Moses Kuria of the ruling Jubilee party.

After weeks of fireworks where all politicians from Wajir except one, fronted the Deputy President as Chief guest and her wishes of launching other projects besides the Alfatah Fundraiser thwarted she allegedly said to her party deputy leader that she will seek other chief of guests bringing Tinga alongside Joho. She said she is done with the tangatanga bridgade in what appears to be turning a new political leaf. Surprisingly Fatuma is a staunch supporter of the Jubilee candidate for the Wajir West by election who has defected from ODM allegedly at her behest. How she will reconcile the two is a thought said to be nagging pundits.

The fundraiser was supposed to be led by Ruto and Duale among other politicians from NEP but Duale is said to be out of the country and the DP is in Mandera.

Some are saying Tinga has chased Tangatanga from town and won Fatuma over by the persuasion of Junet and Joho.

The endowment fund business centre which is expected to cost more than 230 million has a shortfall of just under 100 million.

Raila’s critics say he will not be able to march Ruto’s fundraising prowess as he is the ” Lord of poverty”.

It is interesting to watch how much each of the two leaders can raise for the struggling school that has suffered financial hardship for a long time.
