Former Puntland Deputy Governor Appointed As Ambassador
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today appointed former Deputy Governor of Puntland, Abdihakim Cameey as an ambassador. The country he will serve is not yet known but pundits believe that Cameey who had differences with former governor Dr Abdiwali Gaas in the last 2 years of their administration has been rewarded by the federal government of president Farmaajo for the good working relationship with the federal government and been a staunch opponent of the Governors Caucus that was believed to be against the administration of President Farmajo and Prime minister Kheyre. Former Puntland governor Dr Abdiwali Gaas and other governors from other counties have been at loggerheads with the federal government of President Farmajo and Prime Minister Kheyre over the years. This is believed to be over issues of autonomy and foreign governments mode of contact with governors and the federal government.
Appointment of ambassadors by the federal government has been controversial for sometime after critics accused the government of failing to appoint on merit and in fairness.
