27 Million shillings Education Fund Disbursed to Kamukumji Students
Kamukunji Member of Parliament Hon. Yusuf Hassan has today disbursed constituency development money to 3,854 students from his constituency at the new Zawadi Secondary School in Eastleigh South Ward where he presided over the first 2019 Kamukunji CDF bursary-giving exercise. The MP reiterated the importance of education and said that its the best route to prosperity. He spoke about the transformative power of education saying ”Education is particularly relevant to children from low-income and disadvantaged communities such as Kamukunji. Apart from the enormous benefits of education and knowledge, it has the power to lift its beneficiaries from poverty to prosperity”. He also condemned corruption and said he stands by the ”sterling” work the DPP Noordin Haji and DCI George Kinoti are doing adding that if we dont stand up to corruption we may not have a country called Kenya.
The MP said ”Today at the new Zawadi Secondary School in Eastleigh South Ward, I presided over the first 2019 Kamukunji CDF bursary-giving exercise. The constituency gave out 3,854 bursaries to needy and bright children. Some 2,642 were for secondary school students while 1,212 were for university & college students at the total cost of sh 27.2 million. I also expressed my full support for the war against corruption and commended the sterling job been done by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, the Director of DCI, George Kinoti and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. If we don’t stand up, fight hard and roll back corruption, we would have no country left to call our own”.
