13 Graduate From Wajir Livestock Training Institute
Livestock Training Institute of Wajir County has today held its first graduation. Presiding over the ceremony where 13 students were awarded certificates was Principal Secretary Ministry of Livestock Mr Harry Kimtai in the company of the Governor H.E. Mohamed Abdi, Wajir County Commissioner Mr Lyforf Kibara, the deputy governor H.E. Ahmed Ali and members of Parliament for Wajir West Hon Ahmed Kolosh his Wajir North counterpart Hon Ahmed Abdisalam and the women rep Hon Fatuma Gedi.
LTI-Wajir was upgraded from former Griftu Pastoral Training Centre(GPTC) instituted in 1968. Since its inception, GPTC has trained over 27,000 pastroralists and agro-pastroralists on different courses ranging from livestock husbandry, agri-business skills and diseases identifications.
The deputy governor asked the leaders to shun sideshow and focus on delivery of service in reference to the politicians who asked the county government to absorb the graduands. He asked the PS to help upgrade the institution to a college that offers diplomas as it is currently under utilized.
