The Desert Wheel race To be Held in Isiolo
The Desert Wheel Race 7th Edition, 2018 will be held in Isiolo on the 11th-13th October. Northern Nomadic Disabled Persons’ Organization [NONDO] was formed in 2011 to advocate for the rights, inclusion and participation of persons with disability [PwD] from Northern Kenya. The motto “Able To Do Things Differently” is a clear edict towards creating a society where persons with disability have a Voice and Space to live dignified lives, while being active participants of the community. With a Wheelchair comprising on the Islamic Crescent Moon, Nondo’s Logo is a reflection of this motto – for nothing is impossible for Allah (SWT).
The Desert Wheel Race is a truism >> Disability Is Not Inability, and today the Desert Wheel Race is the biggest disability sporting derby in Kenya, comprising of a set of different wheelchair races in the hot, dusty, windy plains of Isiolo, home to a people who are generous and quick to laugh, a county of stunning views and communities whose blood runs hot and nomadic, ever moving, ever curious, always hospitable to the traveler and the stranger.
The Desert Wheel Race 7th edition 2018 theme is: Let A Child Walk. The dates are 11th through 13th October 2018 with a full program of activities. Fundraising is through buying T’Shirts, Hijabi’s or by sending a donation to Lipa na MPESA Paybill No. 856050
