Protests have rocked cities in the Somali State of Ethiopia, London and the USA the last few days demanding for the release of the deposed president Abdi Muhumed Omar who many accuse of crimes against humanity during his reign. This comes after Mr Abdi Omar’s mum who visited him in the police cells reported that he was tortured and denied medication for his diabetes and is in a coma. His mother reported that they were turned away and saw the former president bleeding from the mouth and nose as close to 30 armed men beat him. His mum believes he is dead and is asking for the release of his body.
Mr Abdi was arrested and arraigned in court by the new Ethiopian administration of Dr Abiy. Abdi was arrested on charges of incitement and the burning of a church in Jigjiga. Thousands of protesters carrying posters of scores of people who were killed in the tribal clashes between the Somali state and Oromia region poured into the streets of Jigjiga, Dhagax buur, Minnesota and London. They also carried posters of former president written ” Release CMC”.
