Governor denies any knowledge of Idris’s shooting as 3 vehicles belonging to his brother are impounded by police

Police spokesman Mr Owino says Garissa governor may be a person of interest to the police over the shooting of Idris Mukhtar because of the information they have as Governor Korane distanced himself fromĀ  the shooting. At the scene where David Mwai allegedly committed suicide showing journalist around Mr Owino insisted that Mr Mwai committed suicide. JournalistsĀ  however questioned his assertion in what they called absence of suicide paraphernalia at the scene of crime. The family of Mr Mwai insist that their son was murdered.

Meanwhile 3 vehicles belonging to the governor’s brother Mr Mohamed Bunow have been taken by police to help in the investigation. Police say the vehicles may have been used to trail the victim of the shooting. Journslist questioned why Mr Bunow is not in custody and the police spokesman responded that he will not know why he is not. Mr Owino said could be police have no evidence to hold him.

Two men and a woman are still said to be in police custody.
